Setting-out
For road and piling works Leica GNSS equipment is used to navigate to the co-ordinates of each point which is then marked with a nail or a steel pin. Where tree-cover prevents the use of GNSS or where greater precision is required, a total station is used to set-out each point by co-ordinates.

Our motorised Leica Total Stations support 3D co-ordinate setting-out, and automatically point towards each selected point minimising errors from misreading angles or distances. Electronic Guide Lights on the instrument speed up setting-out as they allow the assistant quickly to position themselves close to the line on which the required point lies. For grid line setting-out a total station is used to establish right angles and grid distances. Profiles are then set up on the grid lines and nails are precisely positioned where the grid line crosses the profile.
